Ted Newton of White Haven, Pa. smoked the field for the second year in a row to claim the Bottom Moose Brothers Cup. Newton paddled a Wavehopper down the class 4-5 Bottom Moose with a time of 37 minutes flat. The cup and race are named for Bottom Moose regular Chuck Kern and Luka Sribar (brother of Bottom Moose regular Rok Sribar) who both died while paddling class 5 water during the past two years.

Newton bested two other White Haven neighbors also paddling Wave Hoppers–Paul Hoda (38.25) and Dave Bonnomo (39.05).

Justin Beckwith of Holland Patent was the fastest cruiser class finisher with a 39.30 paddling a Prijon Typhoon. Al Baker of Orwell, VT and Steve Heanue of Maine tied for second at 41.15.

Karen Mann registered the fastest ladies time at 45.07 with Carolyn Wiggen finishing second at 47.35 and Kelly Murphy third at 48.35.

Race organizers Caron and Chris Koll logged the top (and only) finishes in the masters (over 40 years old) division. Chris Koll also set a course record that will probably never be bested for the fastest time registered by a competitor with a broken leg and bad hangover.
